Southwest Trailer Leasing tracks its fleet using SkyBitz, a satellite and cellular GPS asset tracking system built specifically for trailers and other equipment that spends its life on the road or parked in a yard rather than plugged into power.
A small GPS unit is mounted on each trailer and reports its location on a regular schedule. Because SkyBitz devices communicate over satellite as well as cellular networks, a trailer doesn't need to be near a cell tower to check in, which matters for equipment that ends up at construction sites, industrial yards, or border crossings without reliable coverage.
That location data flows into a live dashboard our team monitors day to day, so we always know where your trailer is, whether it's moving or parked, and can flag it for you if it crosses a zone you've set up — just call or email and ask.
